A Survey-Based Study Into the Use of Peripheral Nerve Blocks for Pelvic Limb Surgery Among Veterinary Professionals With an Interest in Anesthesia

Peripheral nerve blocks are commonly recommended as perioperative analgesia for orthopedic procedures. We aimed to determine the prevalence of use techniques and drugs among veterinary professionals with an interest in anesthesia. Veterinary were contacted via email (ACVA-list) newsletter (Association Anesthetists) containing a link online survey. Surveys completed full used analysis. Analysis found that peripheral (PNBs) epidural preferred 46% 38% individuals, respectively. Of those using PNBs, stimulator most common, by 72% individuals. Bupivacaine was 71% Adjuvants 37% respondents; alpha-2 agonist. Severe adverse effects reported 11 respondents, while 49% individuals had not witnessed any effects.
